Vulnerability

Updated: Nov 9

Hitler was smart. Wrote books. 45/47 not so much. Similarities, too...

A new emperor, another traumatized soul, recycled images of hurt people who hurt others.

The shadow side of the fool, so eager to watch the world burn as flames illuminate his face

in the bunker’s narcissistic mirror. Seeds of his own destruction,

like bureaucratic flunkies installed in the residue of the U.S. government.

Someone will surely remain to scatter the dust among the bones of the amnesiac dead.

Who will survive in America? Cartoon villains co-created right and left,

traumatized projection phenomena, lengthening shadows of consensual reality.

Until some fool comes along and stops for rest in the shade of healing practices

countenanced by few. Who wants to look at that ugliness? Feel those feelings?

Left creating right, right recreating left, undulating lemniscate waveform,

Election-denying 2016, election-denying 2020, election-accepting 2024.

Caligula Nero faces lining halls of mirrors surely understand power.

Madding crowds cheer his mug shot in prurient pageant of vilification,

ignoring trauma "not ours" as grievances drown in solitary untreated wounds.

We’ve been here before. We’ll repeat the story as many times as it takes.

Give a continent of free land to abused adolescent children, and this is what you get.

Someone write a better sequel. Netflix might pick it up before our subscription lapses.
